Cincinnati Boychoir
“All-City Boychoir Festival”
Once again, the Cincinnati Boychoir will welcome more than 300 boys from all over the tristate area to the Aronoff Center for the Arts to sing, play musical games, and put together a public concert all in just one afternoon. This year’s festival features a guest conductor from Chicago Children’s Choir, Mollie Stone, who will teach the festival attendees South African music and the country’s rich culture and challenging history. She is a world-renowned expert on black South African choral music, teaching and leading workshops around the world on this topic.
While the Boychoir’s elite traveling ensemble, the Ambassadors, will tour in South Africa and Swaziland in June 2018, Ms. Stone’s appearance will enrich the musical lives of every boy in attendance. She will prepare them to deliver an authentic, meaningful, joyful performance of South African choral music and introduce them to South African culture and history. The day ends with a rousing performance of what they’ve learned in the fabulous 2,000-seat P&G Hall at the Aronoff Center for the Arts.
Boys will participate in one of two tracks – one for those whose voice haven’t changed yet and one for those whose voices are changing or changed. The event is free and all boys will receive a t-shirt and Graeter’s cookies that day, thanks to the generous support of the Louise Dieterle Nippert Musical Arts Fund, the Charles H. Dater Foundation, Graeters, and the Cincinnati Arts Association.
Venue Address: 650 Walnut St, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
